The Bonnet Project is the catalyst for the movement The Darn Resistance. This series blossomed as a direct response to a need to feel comfortable in the landscape while promoting transgression through the art of handmaking, slow living and autonomy. Combining my love for cycling, the outdoors and knitting the aim was to start a platform that enabled exploration of human connection with the self, the landscape and each other.

The Bonnet Project is a collection of hand-knitted 100% merino wool bonnets designed to fit snugly under a cycling helmet, defying the standardised cycling snoods often considered the answer to chilly ears. The yarn is hand-dyed and sourced in Uruguay and Peru with each colourway representing a significant place in the UK landscape. Accompanying the bonnets is the first issue of the self-published fanzine The Darn Resistance: The Bonnet Project issue. An overview of the process and outcomes of The Bonnet Project, including a collaborative dreamscape photo series by Oliver Tsappis and writing and artwork by Iffie Saieva.

self-conscious modern-day human and a how-to guide to restore this psyche by reigniting our kinship with the landscape and environment."
